Korish, a fairly large island, and its sister Greater Korish has been a place of hardship for centuries. Starting from the beginning it is believed nomads from Tormal Sipaq reached the island over an anciet glacier with carved the mountains and highlands. At the time the island was populated by tribes it was a frigid place with year round cold weather. Massive trees grew across the island and the people dissappeared for around one thousand years. Around 10,000 B.C.E. it is commonly believed that humans returned on primative boats and reestablished a presence. The practice of slash and burn created large swaths of fertile land but the natives also kept tracks of untouched wilderness. There is also evidence that these ancient people tended the forests by clearing underbrush and creating game trails to ease hunting. The earliest writings date to 4000 B.C.E with a stone tablet recording the rise of a Chief who gathered seven tribes in the southern end of the island through trade. Two hundred years later it appears his descendants still controlled the lands south of the large Calcinth Ridge, only now they controlled even more land. Much of the history is skewed and is now being reestablished but at some point the tribes north of the mountains united as a single people calling themselves the Calcinthuun. The Calcinthuun soon attempted three wars against the southern tribes but failed when the tribes sided with the Korishuni tribe around 500 B.C.E. This set the stage for the most gruesome war recorded. During the first century the Korish people became a a single identity and shared culture and language. The Calcinti believed themselves to be the first inhabitants and therefore rightful rulers of the island set out to claim the south. Years of fighting eventually established a hold on the south but began a war of independence lasting into the 20th century. The Korish people have always identified themselves as a different people and struggled against the rule of the Calcinti. With times of peace came the yoke of the Calcinti on the Korish and created more resentment until the year 1899 when the Korish decided they had enough. With the rest of the world falling into warfare in the early 1900's the Korish yelled for freedom but their cries went unheard and a war began. Korish and Calcinti fought eachother and killed untold numbers of innocent people for simply being from the wrong part of the island. This is would be labelled the worst genocide to ever happen with nearly 10 million dead non combatants and another 2 million dead combatants. Finally in the year 1940 the Korish managed to get the upperhand on the Calcinti and captured the ruling Monarch. In a public trial they found the entire royal Calcinti family guilty of genocide and crimes against humanity and executed them, showing the executions on captured public broadcasting television. With the fall of the calcinti they were pushed to the north of the mountains where they regrouped and have ever since held a stronghold. With both sides exchanging fire each day the Korish are building a new nation while the Calcinti hold on for survival. This is the state of the island and only time will tell if peace is possible in the land that god forgot. *The island of Greater Korish has also experienced the same events with the Korish settling there later. Small strongholds of Calcint survive in the mountains.

Korish Armed Forces
Army (Chief General Shamish Macnamara)
With the destruction of the crown the Korish Transitional Government established the Korish Transitional Army, designed to finish sweeping through the island with captured military equipment. Many of tis ranks were Korish Conscripts and Volunteers who went AWOL after they were disarmed by the Calcint officers for fear of a coup. After the Transitional Government was replaced with the National Government the Army was disbanded and made smaller than its previous standing force. With the rise in conflicts to the north the Army has expanded and been reequiped.
Airforce (Air Commander George Donagahl)
Using repainted Calcint aircraft, which was purchased from the Que Huong with the understanding that they be left to do what they want with the surrounding islands, the Airforce is small and generally used strictly for air to air combat, with a few air to ground strike forces.
Navy (Grand Admiral Harvard Heathridge)
The Navy is strictly designed to maintain coastal security of the islands and intercept illicit cargo vessels. The small force is generally busy trying to stop materials from entering the Calcint strongholds.
Korish Citizens League
The KCL is the offspring of the Korish National Resistance Army. The KNRA was the main fighting force that won the initial battles of the 9th Revolution before the Korish National Army was formed. After the capture of the crown they continued fighting as elite commandos and counter guerilla warfare. After the lines were drawn in the north and the last of the Calcints were trapped the KCL was declared a peacekeeping force, only taking orders from the National Foreman himself. Their rogue tactics and steel fist at dealing with issues have made them both the most feared force in Korish and the most praised.
Through violence and intimidation they have all but ended drug dealing through out the country and extortion is almost nonexsistant. They are currently at war with smaller rival Korich Paramilitaries and Calcint factions in the south but hold their part of the island strong. They are also known for bringing swift jutice to Class 1 and 2 criminals, rapists and murders bring class 1 and community criminals being class 2 such as repeat thieves and Calcint supporters. It is a common sight to see armed men dressed in fatigues wearing ski masks and white armbands walking though out the country.
